DIVINE REVELATION THAT BRINGS DIVINE INTERVENTION
Luke 5:3-7 Stepping into one of the boats, Jesus asked Simon,* its owner, to push it out into the water. So he sat in the boat and taught the crowds from there. 4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Now go out where it is deeper, and let down your nets to catch some fish.” 5 “Master,” Simon replied, “we worked hard all last night and didn’t catch a thing. But if you say so, I’ll let the nets down again.” 6 And this time their nets were so full of fish they began to tear! NLT
In every work and profession, people succeed by a dint of hard and smart work, skills and talents, training and experience in that field. Amongst these nothing beats experience, it is often said that experience is the best teacher in life. There comes a time when hard and smart work fails, when skills and talents fails, when training and experience fails. There comes a time when you have done all you need to do and nothing you have seem to be working, you have tried all you can but you still end up with nothing and the world is looking at you as a failure. This tells us that there is limitation in human knowledge and expertise. No matter how talented and skillful you are, no matter how hard and smart working you are, no matter how experience and expertise you are, there comes a time your humanity has limitation in your field. Except there is a higher intervention in that situation, there is just nothing you can do about it. People in such situation will end with frustration and hopelessness. This is not your portion, frustration is not your portion, hopelessness is not your portion, help is coming your way. There is something called divine revelation that brings divine intervention and it is coming your way in Jesus name.
In the story above Peter, John and James are professional fishermen and they had gone out the previous night into the sea as the usually do to catch fish. On this occasion, they had gone out all night without catching any fish. With all their knowledge, expertise, skills, talent and hard work they could not catch anything fish in a fishing season. They know their work; they were not novices but experts with many years of experience. Yet they fail to catch any fish that night. Now they were sitting on the beach licking their wounds, covered with shame and wondering what they were going to tell their families what had happened as they washed their nets. In many occasions experts and professionals come to their wits end in the course of doing their work where they do not know what do any longer to get their work, businesses, finances, relationships, marriages, family, to work or make progress anymore, they become stuck and everything seems to be failing. I have come to speak to into your life this morning, your business will move, your marriage will work, money is coming your way. Your helper will appear suddenly. You are coming out of this situation now
While peter and his colleagues were feeling depressed and frustrated by their fruitless work of the previous night, a service or crusade was going on. They helped in making the crusade service a success. For their contribution, for their seed as we said last week, they received an instruction to launch into the deep, which they obeyed and God intervened in their situation and gave them a harvest. If you are in a situation similar like Peter, James and John, where your hard and smart work has failed, where your skills and talents has fail to move you forward, if you are in the place where your experience and expertise is not working to move you out of the present situation to the place you want to be. Then you need divine Revelation on what to do. Divine revelation is the divine instruction that gives divine intervention in your situation. Revelation is greater than hard and smart work; it is greater that skills and talents, it is greater than experience and expertise. Only Jesus can give divine revelation that can solve all problems that humanity cannot solve. Divine revelation is found in the presence of Jesus. Only those who listen to Jesus’s words get divine revelation. If you are not listening to Jesus, you will not find divine revelation. You will find divine revelation in the word of God.
